DAY 2

Today's weight: 204.6

 Goal weight: 185

Blood Pressure: 111/79

Energy Level: 6

Lost one pound already. Woohoo! BP looking good.

I finished reading a violent and disturbing (but great!) noir novel last night called Hell on Church Street by Jake Hinkson. I also started taking melatonin last night for insomnia. Bad combination. I had some crazy dreams, dreams that I was in NYC at some kind of shopping/convention complex and a group of criminals I'd somehow gotten involved with were out to kill me. I knew I needed to get out of there, but there were a bunch of different parking areas and I couldn't remember where I'd left my car (my black 1984 Fiero that I got rid of over twenty years ago). I had some sort of little chit to get on an airplane and I gave it to the wrong person...

Things just kept getting worse and worse. A noir nightmare, if you will.

Anyway, I woke up several times last night with my heart racing. Other than that I slept okay, though. I think the bad dreams were a combination of that book I finished and the melatonin. I remember melatonin giving me vivid dreams years ago when I tried it. So I might try the melatonin one more night, and then stop it if the bad dreams continue.

I'm hungry this morning, but not starving. Just a healthy appetite. I feel pretty good. Looking forward to some fruit for breakfast and a nice long walk and then a big salad for lunch. All that after I get some writing done.

  1. both the dream and the nightmare you listed are fascinating Jude. Thanks for sharing them. From my field, we think the psyche is sensitive to every move we make, but esp to those that are significant changes in conscious attitude. Like moving to a new place, taking a new job... deciding to eat differently... and more. And that these moves are often reflected in dreams, in feeling tone and in bits of transformative info about what one may be up against. A mirror of the deeper psyche, is how it is often put.

Keep going, you are on the right track, and should you have another nightmare, there are ways to make them stop if they are caused by any level of anxiousness. Working for 40+years in post trauma with vets, we see much of this, and can calm it. So, stand ready to give more info when/if you like.

I think you are doing great, and love where you mentioned having regular times with your son. The time passes and this is sweet...better than pie... well, better in a certain way...lol.
